New Year, New Blog

So here I am, back in the world of wargaming blogs. I dabbled a few years ago (Skarsnik and Old Lead), but other than pictures of Citadel Giants and the oldhammer opponent finder, things never really got off the ground. Obviously this time things will be different....
I recently left my job at Games Workshop after 16 years, and having decided to take some time out from the world of work, I find myself blessed with the kind of freedom that most gamers my age can only dream about. This ought to mean that I'm more productive than ever on the hobby front, but my amazing knack for procrastination means that so far I've painted half a model in 4 months.

4 months work!

However, in the spirit of the new year I've decided to make some hobby resolutions, and I've hopefully kept them simple and achievable.

Painting and modelling

  • Paint 5 models per month (60 models total)
  • Employ the wonderful Rochie Rochfort to paint 5 models a month (60 models total)
  • Get my painting desk properly organised
  • Finish setting up my new gaming room
More paint storage needed!
Gaming
  • Play at least 1 game per month
  • Host at least 3 games at home
  • Learn 1 new game (most probably Dragon Rampant)
  • Attend at least 3 oldhammer events
WIP gaming area

Buying/Selling

  • Spend a maximum of £50 per month
  • Sell/trade away all the models that I'll never use
  • Sell/paint more models than I buy
The evil bay
So there we have it. It's a huge increase on what I did last year, but I think it's achievable with a bit of dedication. Stay tuned to find out how I get on.

Next time I'll be making concrete plans for the rest of January and bringing news of a competition for those of you that choose to follow my blog. Exciting times!
